An example of an alignment between two schematic proteins. The overlap value is 2 because two cycles of length four arise. First cycle is composed by the arcs (2 P1, 5 P1), (5 P1, 3 P2), (3 P2, 1 P2) and (1 P2, 2 P1). The second cycle has the following four arcs: (3 P1, 7 P1), (7 P1, 6 P2), (6 P2, 2 P2) and (2 P2, 3 P1).
